Electronic Arts’ new game is massively exceeding expectations. Apex Legends Twitch Rivals is having record success. The game’s first day of Esports exceeded Fortnite’s highest single day Twitch viewership!
On Tuesday February 12, Apex Legends recorded 8.28 million hours of watching. The majority of that is coming from Apex Legends Twitch Rivals tournament, with a $200k prize pool. The game is not even a month old yet, but the prize pools are in hundreds of thousands!
A large part of this is skillful advertisement, along, of course, the game’s quality. Popular streamers like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm have already jumped on the train. This helped the Apex Legends Twitch Rivals event achieve this sky-high viewership a lot.
Streamer Grzesiek is the leader of the numbers, and has about 1 million hours watched playing Apex Legends.

To compare this game to its most popular rival, Fortnite, Fortnite’s most popular day came on July 20th, 2018, on the Summer Skirmish. This had a total of 6.6 million hours watched for the day.
