Astralis is a Danish Esports organization. With several consecutive striking successes, they are widely regarded as the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team on the planet. They’ve been ranked first since April 2018. However, Astralis at IEM Katowice CSGO Major 2019 can face some game changers!

There were some recent updates and changes to the CS:GO meta. This means that all teams have to adapt to the new style of play this configuration requires. So, what’s the best time to dethrone a serial winner? Well, many speculate it’s exactly this – you challenge them while they are still adapting to the changes. There are bound to be some vulnerabilities that could be exploited.

Astralis at IEM Katowice

This is exactly what Danny “zonic” Sørensen, their mastermind, said in a recent interview: “Any changes to the game do not benefit us at the moment because we are currently the best team in the world. I haven’t put much thought into that. I’m still working under the same conditions as before the AUG meta.”

Being the best team in the world means the playing involves some incredibly fine tuning. With every change to the game, particularly to the meta, this means that everything needs to be reworked. All over again.

Of course, this does not necessarily mean that the team will be beaten. Astralis at IEM Katowice could be just as powerful as it was before. It all comes down to how well they will tackle the changes. Considering their past consistent success, they are by no means naive and will probably study the configuration to perfection.

However, this does mean that they are more vulnerable than before. With this new opportunity, we will see if some new team will take their path to glory. Or, as before, will we see all of them fall before Astralis.
