According to the announcements, Clash Royale league will merge many regions into one, Western region. This will include the North American, European, and Latin American regions.
The developer Supercell said that they will change their regional structure. In the 2019 season, three of last season’s debut regions will be merged into one. The North American, European, and Latin American regions will be combined into one CRL West region, which will run alongside CRL China and CRL Asia regions.
In the past, all the regions had the same number of teams except CRL Asia, which had 12. Merging the territories, a balanced layout will be achieved. The 2019 season will have fewer teams than their past counterparts.
Supercell published on their Twitter channel: “Rest assured, we’ll continue working with some of the best esports organizations and will select teams based on merit. This will include esports history, expertise, player treatment, CRL commitment, and more. Most importantly, we want to work with organizations that want to truly support and contribute to the long-term success of the CRL.”
This change comes in positive to the Western regions as they did not have both Spring and Fall seasons. They only had Fall seasons, and with this reorganizing, the Clash Royale league western regions receive Spring seasons as well. All the western competition combined will be held at a Los Angeles Studio.
This league may motivate even more changes to the event. The second season may shift the broadcast orientation to a landscape view, alienating themselves from the mobile-friendly portrait orientation that is currently used in the Western regions.
