Starting on March 15, the students will be eligible to register for the Team Genji’s recruitment system. Team Genji is an analytics platform and Esports organization that is partnered with Becker College to make this happen. The qualification process is long and demanding, and anyone who passes it will receive a one-time payment of $5,000.

Those who do make it through and receive the paycheck will be invited to compete at Helix Esports Apex Combine Tournament in April. This will be hosted at the Helix Esports Gaming Center and is a great opportunity to start a career in the industry. This will be the biggest Apex Legends amateur tournament to date.

Becker University’s general Esports manager Timothy Loew said: “Our goal is to give top Apex Legends players a unique chance to combine their talents with education. As home to the first university Esports program in Massachusetts and the first bachelor in Esports management degree in the US, Becker is excited to shape the future of competitive gaming in partnership with two of esports’ leading brands – Genji and Helix.”

This university is already known to be very gaming-oriented. Not only they are the first college to have an esports management bachelor’s program, but their game design program was ranked as the third best in the world.

From Team Genji’s side, their CEO William Collis said: “Building a pipeline from high school to college, and then hopefully to a pro team like Genji is what we’re all about. This is just the beginning. We’ve proven the power of analytics by using big data to build the world’s number one Hearthstone team. And we’re excited to bring our platform into Apex Legends with the help of Helix and Becker.”

The partnership also encourages high school freshmen to apply for the program, since their applications will be kept until they are of age. Everyone who enrolls for Apex Legends scholarship will have an opportunity to try getting on the university’s Apex Legends team. It’s expected for the team to launch in fall 2019.
