With the launch of Season 10 of the grossing Battle Royale Game, a new Vehicle was added to the game, providing means of mobility as well as being means of inflicting effective damage.
The name of this brand new addition is BRUTE. The Fortnite BRUTE is a mechanical robot that requires two players to control it and use its functions simultaneously. Since its launch it has been at the center of hate and controversy, with many people upset about its capabilities to do damage and how it creates an unfair advantage and unbalances the game, which was once highly entertaining.
The Story of Fortnite’s BRUTE Robot
The controversy slightly and eventually enlarged as videos came out showing the display of its power and how it outlasts its competition dealing self minute damage. The controversy at one time got to a point where #RemoveTheMECH became twitter’s #1 Trending topic in many countries Worldwide with thousands of people, Gaming Organizations, Streamers, etc. tweeting about it.

Evaluating the Scale at which the controversy had reached, Epic Games decided to respond. Here is what they had to say:
“Another part of the mission is to provide spectacle and entertainment when playing Fortnite. Bringing these moments to the game every week means there is always a new way to enjoy and experience the game.
Fortnite’s BRUTE was added at the start of Season X with this mission in mind. Since then, we have seen players who had previously struggled with getting eliminations acquiring more, while the number of eliminations earned by more experienced players remained steady.”
Ninja chimed in on his thoughts, as can be seen in “thatdenverguy‘s” video below:
Continuing Epic Games‘ thoughts:
“Fortnite BRUTE encounters should feel like a unique engagement and not be the dominant experience during a game. We made adjustments to the Fortnite BRUTE within Arena, in line with that goal. Specifically for Arena we made the change to spawn rate in order to reduce late-game encounters. This is due to a higher number of players surviving to those circles compared to non-Arena modes. We’re happy with the results and the below graphs represent the current state of BRUTE. eliminations across both Arena and core modes.”

Seeing Fortnite’s Response to the controversy and no potential nerfs made to the BRUTE, many Content Creators decided to protest in their own ways. Most tried becoming a bit diverse and start streaming other Video Games, like Minecraft and one streamer Dakotaz had to say this:
I will not spend another dime in the item shop of @FortniteGame until brutes are gone
You decide the direction of your game
I’ll decide the direction of my wallet

Looks like the everlasting streak of Fortnite’s Popularity will face a slight downfall and other video games will become a bit more populated. It will be interesting to see how the Game Designers will respond to actions taken by the Fortnite Community.
