According to some sources, OpTic players Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke and Jakob “JUGi” Hansen are looking to switch to team Cloud9. The performance of the all-Danish team was disappointing, considering the quality of players it’s composed of. It’s not a surprise we see K0nfig and JUGi on Cloud9.
OpTic, an Esports organization started in 2006, formed the full-Danish roster in April 2018. This was a team of some of the highest-quality players in Denmark aside from the world’s champion team Astralis.
Even though the roster was theoretically formed of great players, they did not manage to coordinate well enough. OpTic was struggling to achieve significant results. Their best LAN placing was 2nd during cs_summit 3 and DreamHack Open Summer, and are currently ranked as low as #27 in the world. Their overall peak on world rankings was #12, which only lasted a week.
So, unfortunately, this was sort of expected. Two of OpTic’s important and prominent players k0nfig and JUGi decided to abandon ship and move overseas to join Cloud9. This comes as a real treat to the North American roster, however, as their addition completes the team.
Currently, they are on four members total, with Fabien “kioShiMa” Fiey also being rumored to be out of the squad, based on reports by Jarek “DeKay” Lewis.
- Timothy “autimatic” Ta
- William “RUSH” Wierzba
- Maikil “Golden” Selim
- Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke
- Jakob “JUGi” Hansen
On the other side of the fence, OpTic will be left with three players:
- René “cajunb” Borg
- Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer
- Ismail “refrezh” Ali.
The future of this team is definitely uncertain. It was a real shame that this roster had such a destiny, with two prominent players K0nfig and JUGi on Cloud9. This does not, however, mean that they are already toast – there may be some room for them to come back to life.
