In a recent video, the developers of LoL talked about the changes for season 9. From January 24, additional ranks will appear in the game with improved qualifying match system, and role based matchmaking. The next question that comes to mind: What will be the division system of the season?

Quick PSA with important dates for preseason:

– 8.23 (Nov 21) preseason starts, gameplay changes
– 8.24 is when Ranked changes start to go out (tiers, placements)
– 9.1 is mostly for stabilizing stuff
– 9.2 (Jan 23) the season starts

LoL Season 9 will be divided into three parts: The first split will be completed in mid-April. According to the results of each of them, players will receive special awards. The developers noted that success in individual splits will not affect the quality of prizes for the season.

With the start of the ninth season in North America and Korea, matchmaking by roles will open. For each position a separate rating will be calculated. In this case, the player will gain or lose points in all roles.
