MKLeo victorious at Super Smash Bros Ultimate EVO!

The Evolution Championship Series 2019 has come to a close. With Super Smash Bros Ultimate EVO 2019 garnering over 3,000 entrants, over 279,000 viewers on Twitch bore witness to the rise of a new champion. Coming out of loser’s bracket after a 2-0 loss to Japan’s own Kameme, MKLeo fought his way through loser’s, facing off against Tweek.

MKLeo, winner of Genesis, Momocon, and CEO, sought to maintain his dominance in Smash Ultimate by clutching out a win against all other possibilities. Known as a Joker main, MKLeo sent out the Leader of the Phantom Thieves against Tweek’s Pokemon Trainer. Note that EVO was not using the recent Smash version. This means that none of the balance adjustments in version 4.0.0 took effect on Pokemon Trainer.

With that said, Tweek was poised to win Game 3 with one game-winning strike. However, MKLeo clutched it out, took the stocks back, and won the game. What followed was a five-game victory streak: two to reset the bracket and three more to take the set.

After the set, Super Smash Bros Ultimate director, Masahiro Sakurai, congratulated MKLeo on Twitter.
