In their upcoming tournament events, Natus Vincere decided to bring in Misha as a substitute for their captain Sonneiko. Misha will be playing for Na ‘Vi at the ESL One Mumbai and GG.BET Birmingham Invitational.
The reason behind this decision was revealed by Na’Vi’s manager Igor „caff“ Sydernko, at the recent press release. He stated that Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butae will be temporarily absent due to his ongoing health issue. Caff also stated that their decision has nothing to do with their loss against Gambit Esports at the OGA Dota PIT Minor, as it was brought in before the qualifiers.
We don’t know the seriousness of Sonneiko’s health issue, but we know that it has shaken up the team’s composition. With Sonneiko’s absence, Na’Vi started to lose their focus. They lost at the OGA Dota PIT Minor CIS Qualifier, and their DPC grind is almost standing in place. The team is currently losing hope and is now considered to be the underdogs at the DPC rankings.
Although Dota Pro Circuit minor tournaments are providing the biggest opportunity for the CIS teams, Na‘Vi is still struggling to achieve the needed results. At the moment they are placed 16th on the DPC rankings, which is not looking good for them if the aim to reach The International 2019.
But Sonneiko’s absence isn’t the only problem within the team. Na’Vi needs to start more aggressively recognizing their flaws in hopes to fight through the instability. They still have a chance to diligently solve such difficulties through routine, preparation, and quality roster changes.
Sonneiko will rejoin Na‘Vi after ESL One Mumbai. His comeback with regained strength will surely benefit the team in the right direction. After all, he is the team’s captain.
