After all the rumors and talk about Tarik’s performance while lent by another team, it doesn’t come as a surprise that we now see NRG sign Tarik. On February 28 it became official, and now NRG bolstered their squad with a new member in the team.
The team made a video announcement where Alex Rodriguez, an MLB World Champion and NRG investor welcomes their new player. He even talks about some similarities the two of them shared in the past.
“Hey Tarik, what’s going on? From one World Champion to another, welcoming Brooklyn boy Tarik to the NRG family. Let’s bring home some trophies baby”, Rodriguez said in the video.
Tarik was previously part of the Cloud9 team. It’s quite an important fact because this team brought the first CS: GO Major title to North America. Not long after that, he joined MiBR, but the all-star squad had problems getting quality results. This resulted in Tarik being on the bench for some time and an opportunity for NRG to swoop in.
During the 2019 IEM Katowice with Tarik on board, NRG managed to woo everyone when they dominated the Challengers Stage with a 3-0 result. However, they did not go far from there. They soon fell 0-3 in the Legends Stage, but the Round Differential was only 11.
So, now, NRG’s team is as follows:
- Cvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov
- Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte
- Ethan “Ethan” Arnold
- Damian “daps” Steele
- Tarik “Tarik” Celik.
We are positive that this addition will bring more success to the team. All they need now is willpower and practice. We’ll see how it plays out!
