Is playing games dangerous? Could it lead to some weird things happening? Can someone die from playing games? Not likely yea? But there is some interesting stuff that can lead to you changing your mind. Here are a couple of gamer deaths that show just how you shouldn’t play games.

Gamer deaths were a strange thing some 20 or 30 years ago. But now there are a lot of people dying from playing games, that it isn’t so strange anymore. And with the number of gamers growing we could only expect the number or gamer deaths to grow as well. Don’t you think so?

What Gamer Deaths have Happened in the Past?

5. Jeff Dailey and Peter Burkowski

One of the first gamer deaths occurred in the US. When? In the 1980’s when two boys who were trying to break the record of a game called Berserk. Jeff Dailey and his friend Peter Burkowski were the first gamers who dropped dead by playing a game. Quite literally. They broke the high score of 16,600 points and dropped dead immediately after typing in their names. Weird huh?!

4. Daniel Petric

Another case of gamer deaths isn’t quite what you would imagine. In this case a boy named Daniel Petric, only 17 years of age wasn’t allowed to have Halo 3. Instead of acting like any other child that wasn’t allowed something and suck it up, he did something unthinkable. The boy broke into his fathers weapon closet got his gun and went into his parents room. He told his parents to shut their eyes because he had a surprise for them, and shot both in the head. Not a gamer death but a shocking thing caused by a game, that’s for sure.

3. Korean Starcraft Player

The third case may not be so shocking. Why? Because it is a Korean man playing StarCraft. One of Korea’s most played games if not the most played. In 2005 a guy who was a boiler repairman got an addiction to the game. He quit his job and totally got into playing the game. But not everything went as planned, because the same man one day went to the internet cafe to play the game and stayed there for 40 hours.

Can you imagine? But as it turns out playing so long isn’t as good for the health as you would have hoped, and this was proved by the man falling from his chair and dying from hearth failure caused by the exhaustion and dehydration from playing so long.

2. Chris, the Halo Player

Yeah yeah it’s a mirrored Halo image

One of the most recent gamer death is a little weird. How? Well a boy called Chris was a Halo player. He was so obsessed with it that he regularly had a 12 hour long sessions playing the game. During one of those sessions, a blood clot traveled from his legs into his lungs which resulted in his instant death. And that was caused by Chris not even moving an inch from the spot where he was gaming. Stretch your legs guys, it’s good for the health.

1. Chinese Gamer

The last gamer death case that we are going to mention is maybe the most insane. In this case a Chinese man spent an amazing period of 27 days or 650 hours playing games. It sounds unrealistic doesn’t it? But its not, that guy was playing non-stop for 27 days and the only breaks he had were the ones when he went to grab a bite to eat and maybe an hour or two of sleep. And at last he fell dead on the keyboard. Maybe he didn’t sleep enough, huh?

All that said guys be really careful. Maybe gaming doesn’t seem dangerous, but spending a lot of time in the same place and not eating and sleeping regularly can cause some pretty weird death cases. The gamer deaths mentioned above are not lies. Play games but don’t overplay them. There’s a limit to everything!
