State Farm and Overwatch League have announced a partnership in which the US financial giant will be the insurance provider of the Overwatch League event. This is one of the multiple sponsorships Activision Blizzard has acquired over the years.
On February 14th, the second season of Overwatch League started, which added eight expansion teams.
State Farm is not new to the Esports scene, as they signed their first individual esports sponsorship in January. They chose Rogue’s Fortnite captain Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo. Along with this, they sponsored the Rocket League Championship Series in 2018, own the naming rights to the LCS analyst desk and have many more rights in the Esports industry.
This league is aiming to expand along with the industry. State Farm and Overwatch League are looking at expansion. The plans are to have the franchises compete from home venues, like North America, Europe, and Asia. The event is yet under development, and the Season 2 will be marked as progress in this venue. Los Angeles Valiant, Atlanta Reign and other of the sort will be hosting matches from their home cities, starting from April.
